Nutrisystem Week 2!

Well, the Fast 5 is done, and we are on to the main Nutrisystem diet! This will still be a boring blog about what foods were good, which ones I won't order again and all the feelings that go along with weight loss. After 7 days of the Fast 5, I lost at least 5lbs. I didn't really weight myself before we got going, which I know seems silly. I knew where I was approximately, and I'm almost 5lbs lighter than my first weight after we started. So it's working!

Day 1
-Pancakes with cinnamon pecans and SF maple syrup
-Cheese and a Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar
-Apple and coffee with skim milk
-Popcorn
-Sausage Bacon Rigatoni and ceasar salad with roasted carrots
-Oatmeal raisin cookie

That's a lot of food! I should have had a veg with lunch, but maybe tomorrow!

Day 2
-Apple Struedel Bar, milk
-Cheese
-Kung Pao Noodles with roasted carrots and a dollop of greek yogurt
-Popcorn
-Banana and coffee with skim milk
-Margarita Pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms, mushroom broccoli caps
-Chocolate chip cookie bites

That pizza was a amazing!

Day 3
-Ham and Cheese Omelette and milk
-Wendy's Chili and carrots
-Banana and coffee with skim milk
-Chipotle burrito bowl
-Ice Cream Sandwich

And a few pieces of candy for Halloween! I'm 10lbs down, so I thought I could splurge a little.

Day 4
-Waffles, yum! Milk
-Almonds
-Four Cheese Melt
-Cheese, coffee with skim milk
-Ravioli Fromagio, artichoke
-Chocolate cupcake

Today was a good day! Food and otherwise! Finally saw The Martian...it was pretty good! Not nearly as good as the book, but they made some okay decisions. It was a good day!

Day 5
-Maple Brown Sugar oatmeal!
-Cheese!
-Double Chocolate Caramel bar!
-Popcorn, coffee with skim milk and an apple
-Sweet and sour chicken, stuffed mushrooms and crack slaw
-Chocolate cake

Lots of yumminess for sure! Now that the Halloween candy is out of the house, no more excuses!

Day 6
-Harvest Nut Bar (surprisingly very yummy!) and milk
-Black Beans and Rice on lettuce with cheese, salsa and some sour cream/greek yogurt
-Popcorn, banana, coffee with milk!
-Sausage Mac and Cheese with salad (why meat?)
-Chocolate Caramel Bar

Pretty yummy day! We have 2 more weeks of default (aka kind of gross food) before we get our next custom picked meal!

Day 7
-Peanut Butter Bar (yum!)
-Broccoli Cheese Melt with cheese and carrots
-Popcorn, banana, coffee and milk
-Hearty Beef Stew, carrots
-Chocolate Covered Pretzles

Yummy day! Now comes the tough part of eating some riff raff before our next custom order comes! I'm down 11.5lbs! In 2 weeks! That's pretty awesome!

Done with Week 2!

Day 6! Almost done!

Day 6 Foods and Reviews

Hello Day 6! Rainy day, but nice and cool too!

Breakfast: Double Chocolate Muffin
Verdict: Okay, so this is the muffin of my dreams. It is so good! I spend at least 10 minutes listening to the Martian while I ate it. I wanted to savor every last crumb! Fantastic. Probably my favorite thing yet!

8oz Skim milk: Mmm...

Lunch: Three Cheese Chicken Pasta
Verdict: So good! Way better than the pasta last night! Cooked it a little longer, but it was creamy and cheesy!

8oz Skim milk: With coffee and SF caramel

Nutri Crush Chocolate Shake
Verdict: Probably just as yummy! Haven't had it yet. I will miss these...I'll drink one tonight and one tomorrow, and then I don't know if I can order more or not.

Dinner: Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes
Verdict: Okay. It was a little too processed for me. I'm finding that I love the lunches, where you add water and cook better than the already prepared meals that you just heat up. We'll see. There's a lot I haven't tried yet.

Tomorrow is the last day of this first hard jaunt, and it wasn't even all that hard! Finished The Martian today...listening to it again with the Hubs!

Day 5! Over half way done!

Day 5 Foods and Reviews

WE ARE OVER HALFWAY DONE WITH THIS BEGINNING WEEK!!

Breakfast: Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bar
Verdict: Smaller than others I've seen, but yummy. Very oatmealy and chocolaty!

8oz Skim milk: Yum!

Lunch: White Bean Chicken Chili/Leftover roasted green beans
Verdict: SPICY! Whew! I added a T of sour cream to cool off the heat, but ended up adding another. It was okay, but a little too spicy!

8oz Skim milk: Tried Trader Joe's coffee...it's very course ground and made very weak coffee. Drank it anyway!

Nutri Crush Chocolate Shake
Verdict: Made it thicker than usual...will probably stick to the normal directions next time.

Dinner: Chicken Parmesan Pasta/Roasted sugar snap peas and raw carrots
Verdict: Ugh. Tonight was rough. The peas were pretty disgusting. I ate about half of them and then had some carrots. The pasta wasn't the grossest thing I've eaten, but it is in the bottom somewhere. Mushy pasta, weird chicken and sauce that was just a little to processed. But, you can't aways have winners!

Tomorrow is Day 6, and then next is Day 7! By the time Day 8 rolls around, I'll be so glad to put some fruit and other carbs into my mouth! This has been tough, but not impossible. Today was one of the harder days. I'm not a fan of having a granola bar for breakfast...it didn't fill me up as much as the muffins and other things. Hubs had a bar for lunch and he said the same thing. I'll probably try to stick to non-bar type foods if possible. But hey, it's teaching us proper portion control and getting us off super bad for you foods. It's worth it!

The Martian is awesome. I'm about 3.5 hours into the audio book, and I just started the other day. It's one of the best books I've ever read!

Day 4!

Day 4 Foods and Reviews

Today is Sunday, Today is Sunday! Slept in and had a snuggly puppy next to me (before she lays on Hub's pillow like a hat) We've decided to do all frozen food this weekend, and most of it has not disappointed!

Breakfast: Cinnamon Roll
Verdict: Delish! Moist, warm and supper yummy. Not too much frosting either!

8oz Skim milk: Mmm!

Lunch: Meatball Parmesan Melt/carrot chips
Verdict: Rather yummy! Not as good as the pepperoni one I had yesterday, but still good!

8oz Skim milk: With decaf coffee and SF caramel!

Nutri Crush Chocolate Shake
Verdict: Probably just as yummy, haven't had it yet!

Dinner: Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza/roasted green beans and artichoke!
Verdict: Umm...Yum!! This one was worth heating up the oven for! It was perfectly crispy, tangy and meaty! Didn't feel like diet food at all! Especially with the veggies we had, I'm actually pretty full tonight, and I haven't even had my shake yet! Also, artichokes are fantastic!

Day 3! First weekend day!

Day 3 Foods and Reviews

Breakfast: Turkey Sausage and Egg Muffin
Verdict: Very good! I toasted the english muffin and added a little homemade McBreakfast sauce (the stuff that comes on the McD's egg bagels) (Supposed to be mayo and dill mustard, but I've never found dill mustard. I used greek yogurt, a little yellow mustard and some dill weed. Not the same, but still yum) The flavor of the sausage was really yummy. Might add a little cheese to it next time!

8oz Skim milk: Cold and yum!

Lunch: Pepperoni Pizza Melt/carrot chips
Verdict: Fantastic! The crust is a little weird, but the sauce and cheese on the inside mades up for it...just eat the ends with all the dough first. Very yummy and is a favorite!

8oz Skim milk: Same as before!

Nutri Crush Chocolate Shake
Verdict: Probably just as delicious, I just haven't had it yet!

Dinner: Salisbury Steak and Mac & Cheese/roasted green beans
Verdict: Decent. The mac and cheese was totally amazing, but the steak and gravy were okay. I usually like salisbury steak, but it's not my top pick. This goes in the maybe pile.

I still have yet to drink my Nutri Crush shake, but it's been a good day. There is really no excuse for cheating on this diet, because you get to eat all the things that you love! You have to tolerate eating some veggies, but honestly, if you want to live a good life, you're going to have to trade in the fries for veggies at some point. I'm excited to be done with day 3, but the cool thing is that I'm not tired of this yet! Here in 5 days, I can start enjoying fruit, some healthy carbs and Nutrisystem desserts! Yum! Now for some more Spirit Tracks!

Day 2!

Day 2 Foods and Reviews

I'm still alive! The food has been great so far, and I actually got really full last night for dinner. The tough part of the day is from about 2-5, so I think I'll have my Nutri Crush then today and see if that makes things a little better. It's really not that bad though. I will need to do some more grocery shopping, because when 2 people need 4 servings of veggies per day, that's a lot of veggies! I have some for today, but then after I get the frozen food, I'll go shopping. I'm not sure how much room the frozen food will take up, but I love roasting frozen veggies, so I hope there is still room for some veggies. So, here we go with Day 2!

Breakfast: Lemon Blueberry Bar
Verdict: Meh. At first, I hated it. The more I ate, the better it got. It had a nice flavor with oatmeal texture. The whole thing was just a little too dry. The real blueberries helped out some, but it was just a little to crumbly. I might get this one again if I get tired of others.

8oz Skim milk: Yum!

Lunch: Mexican Style Tortilla Soup/raw carrots
Verdict: Decent! For the most part, I loved it. There was just one flavor in there that I wasn't crazy about...maybe it just tasted a little like dehydrated then rehydrated stuff. Anyway, I added a T of sour cream to it which cooled it off spice wise and made it a little creamier. I would do this again!

8oz Skim milk: Had this serving with coffee and SF caramel flavor...Yummo!

Nutri Crush Chocolate Shake
Verdict: Yummy again! I look forward to this one!

Dinner: Chicken Enchilada/roasted carrots
Verdict: Enchilada = Amazing! Rice = not so much. This was my first frozen meal, and it really wasn't that much different than the shelf stable foods. It was a tad spicy, so I added a little sour cream again. I probably shouldn't get into that habit, but I don't think it'll throw me off that much. I would get it again, but I'm hoping there is another mexican meal that will fill my huge mexican food void! I can always eat mexican food! Roasted carrots for my veg...yum!

Day 2 is done! Food is still good, and I'm feeling great! The best thing about this diet is all the veggies I have to eat. I'm hoping it'll get easier as the time goes on. So far so good! On to Day 3 tomorrow!

Nutrisystem Day 1!

Day 1 Foods and Reviews

Breakfast: Cinnamon Streusel Muffin
Verdict: Delicious! Not a full sized muffin, but not a mini muffin. Nice flavor, pleasantly moist!

Energi-ZING Chocolate Shake
Verdict: Nope. Nope. Nope. Wayyyyy to much caffeine! 200mg per shake! I drank a few sips and was already shaky. Not for me! 14oz of skim milk instead.

Lunch: Cheddar Broccoli Rice/Raw carrot chips
Verdict: Yummy! Total prep time was 13 minutes, which seams crazy for a little container of rice. It was slightly thin, but it needed 3.5 oz of water, and I think I added closer to 4. The flavor was spot on though!

Nutri Crush Chocolate Shake
Verdict: Yummy! Might mix with the ice and then fish it out or use bigger cubes. Nice taste, more satisfying than most protein shakes.

Dinner: Santa Fe Chicken/Roasted Brocc and Cauli
Verdict: So Good! Chicken, black beans, corn and rice! What's not to love? This was a little to saucy to eat with a fork, so I ate it more like a soup! If I have this during the normal Nutrisystem time, I will definitely top it off with some greek yogurt. It was just a tad spicy, and something cool like yogurt would make it perfect!

Day 1 is done! Foodwise, it was a great day! Hugerwise, I'm sure I'll have some rough days ahead, but it's definitely not the hardest diet I've done. Hello...I had a a muffin, chocolate stuff and rice twice! Here we go Day 2...bring it on!
